Cell Phones for soldiers

MSNBC - Kids on a mission to help soldiers phone home
A 14 year old girl and her 12 year old brother decided to take the $14 they had in their piggy bank and help soldiers call home. They have no parlayed that into over $250,000 worth of pre-paid calling cards. And, just recently, the IRS has now granted their "Cell Phones for Soldiers" campaign Non Profit status so all donations are tax deductible. What they are doing is taking old cell phones and selling them to a company that refurbishes them, then using that money to buy phone cards to send to the troops. They also accept cash of course. :)
It seems to me that these are two smart kids with good hearts. They have given of themselves and even missed out on things like cheerleading competitions and soccer games to pursue this.
If you have an old cell phone you'd like to get rid of, check their website for places you can drop it off or where to mail it to. Certain phone models can even be mailed in with pre-paid shipping.
I'm glad to see there are some good kids left in this world AND that the news actually reported something good! In a world full of war and tsunamis, it's nice to find good hearted news out there.
