October 2005 Archives

I guess criminals really are stupid! This guy had a plea bargain for 30 years in prison and said "No, I want 33 years"! Why? Because he is a Larry Bird fan and Larry Bird wore number 33 on his jersey.

PMS Early Warning System

Ok, this was just too funny to pass up. I was reading through some blogs when I came across this post by Tony Calabrese. His wife left him a warning letter about having PMS. I think it's something all women should do to help keep us men out of trouble!! Give it a read, it's pretty funny! Maybe my next search should be for his obituary...

Another Great Weekend

I took last Friday off and made it a four day weekend. I flew to NH Thursday night.
On Friday, the weather held out for a beautiful day! Marianne, Lauren and I went to the childrens museum in Portsmouth. Then we ate lunch at The Friendly Toast. After that we went to Odiorne State Park.
The rest of the weekend rained, but we made the best of it. On Saturday we went to eat at The Weathervane. I LOVE FRIED HADDOCK! The we went and visited with some of my family.
Sunday was basically a down day. We went grocery shopping, cooked dinner, watched TV and played.
On Monday, we went to see the new Wallace & Grommit movie, Curse of the WereRabbit. It was good! I flew home Monday night. I was bummed to have to leave. Now I'm looking forward to my next trip north!

Help for Katrina

My friend Vicky is in the Louisiana National Guard. She's been working long hours to help recover from Katrina. Many of her fellow Guard members were also hit and she is looking to help them. I've included her message below. As she has asked that I not post her contact info on the web, I have setup an email address. If you would like to help, please send email to help@mjonesweb.com.

===============================================================
Well, I finally have a weekend off since Hurricane Katrina hit. The military has been really, really, busy down here between Katrina & Rita and our unit in particular has been pulling longs days with little time off. Thank goodness for all the units that have come in from all over the US to help us out, both Army and Air Guard. They have been a tremendous help and have enabled our guys to now focus on themselves as they try to re-build their lives again. The effects of the disaster are far reaching and whether or not you had any damage, everyone has been touched.

Even the specific unit I belong to (Communications Flight) has several members who have lost everything. But, I don't think they've stopped long enough to even begin to think how they are going to start re-building.

And so, I'm trying to see if there's anything I can do to help them. Several of them of little ones from 3 months up to 10 both boys and girls. I was wondering if any of you may have or no of anyone who may have extra clothes, toys, bottles, furniture or anything to give away. I'm trying to focus on the little ones because I know the holidays are coming and their parents are just trying to get by today.

Please don't feel obligated but if you happen to hear someone ask how they might help, please feel free to forward my e-mail and snail mail address to them as I start distributing stuff out.

Again, thank you for all your prayers and thoughts for us. If nothing else, the prayers are always welcome. :)

Sincerely,

Vicky
