Unsecured Wi-Fi would be outlawed by N.Y. county
The proposed law has two prongs: First, "public Internet access" may not be provided without a network gateway server equipped with a firewall. Second, any business or home office that stores personal information also must install such a firewall-outfitted server even if its wireless connection is encrypted and not open to the public. All such businesses would be required to register with the county within 90 days.
REGISTER? You now have to REGISTER with the county?? I think the politicians here just need to keep their nose out of technology!
Google founders' heady purchase
Here's an interesting article about how the founders of Google use COMMON SENSE in their purchases even though they are worth billions. Instead of following the normal corporate path of blowing millions on a corporate jet, the spent far less on an older 767 and retrofitted it. They also figured out that flying the 767 would cost considerably less per flight hour than a nice new GulfStream V.
